Welcome to RingRx! We are excited to have you try our service and hope you have a great experience. You might be wondering what you should to do get going to test out the features that are imnportant to you. Read on and we will do our best to help – we have lots of features, and an unlimited amount of ways to configure your service, so we will try to make it as simple as possible.
What is the Free Trial For?
Unlike most other communications companies, RingRx offers a free trial so you can test out the features that are most important to you to make sure we are the right service for your needs. We want you to be happy, so the last thing we want is for you to sign up for a long contract only to realize something does not work the way you expect. It is not intended as a substitute for your primary phone service. You can indeed do that, but there are some limitations.
The Free Trial is intended for testing only:
- Download the mobile app and log in
- Make some test calls, faxes, and texts
- Setup some call routing configurations like Menus, Ring Groups, and
- Setup a voicemail greeting, leave some voicemails and play them back
- Log into the portal, get used to the interface
- Add some other Users to practice transferring and extension dialing
And there is much more – if you are unsure what to do next, feel free to browse through our support articles, or reach out to our support team for assistance. Just click the Contact Support button at the top of this page.
What phone should I use?
RingRx has three types of phones that all of our Users have access to: A mobile app, a web-based softphone, and deskphones. Deskphones are generally not shipped during your trial, as the amount of time required to get the phones to you and the cost of shipping is generally not suitable for most customers. But the mobile app and web-based softphone are available and can be used as soon as your trial account is setup.

Setup a Voicemail Greeting and leave some Messages
This is easy and pretty obvious, but you should for sure do it. This will give you a feel for how the system works and see how easy it is to leave and check voicemails.
Add Users
If you are the only person on the team, then you can skip this, of course. But if yout want to test out features like call routing, transferring, extension dialing, etc, you will be best served by adding one or two other people. In general we recommend approaching this like a test and not adding more than 5 Users during the trial. If you have a reason to do so, that is fine. But remember, this is a test, its not a substitute for your existing service… To add Users you can do it yourself or ask our support team to help, just go here for steps
Make some calls, texts and faxes
Of course one of the most important things you will be testing is how calling, texting and faxing (texting and faxing are not included in all plans) work. Either do this with a co-worker, friend, or even with another one of your own phones. We dont recommend testing from our mobile app to the mobile device the app is installed on, just because it gets confusing. But you can do it if you can keep track of what is doing what. Understand that audio quality on internet based service (VOIP) like RingRx is subject to the network you use for internet service and as a result, you can experience audio quality issues. If that happens, please take a look at this article for guidance on how to resolve it
Ring Groups, Menus, and other Call Routing Features
If you are a solo provider, these features are not quite as useful for you as they are a larger company. Feel free to set them up and play around, but if you are not certain you need it, we suggest avoiding it. They can take some time to setup and can be a bit challenging for the purpose of the trial. For larger offices, if these are important to you, you should for sure set them up.
Caller ID
Its not that necessary to setup any caller ID information during the trial, but it is up to you. Caller ID at business class phone services is alot more complicated than most people expect. You can learn more here.
Adding a Payment Method
You do not need to add a payment method during the trial. You can add one anytime during the trial and that will make your account permanent, until you cancel. We do not have a contract and you can cancel at anytime.
Texting Campaign Registration
As you may know, the three major cell phone companies have formed the The Campaign Registry, to regulate and charge for non-cell phone services to send text messages to cell phones on their network. In most cases, this is not necessary for a trial account. But if it is imperative for you, you should complete the process, which is described here.
Getting a Business Associate Agreement (“BAA”)
You are welcome to get a BAA anytime. We do not require one, and your RingRx service still adheres to the same standards of security whether you have a BAA or not. Since a Free Trial is really for testing purposes, it is not our expectation that any sensitive information will be left on your account. But it is up to you if you proceed with this step or not. If you choose to, please go here.
Porting during the Trial
If you have an existing number at another service, you are free to start porting that number into RingRx anytime during your trial. The trial and the porting process are not linked – so plan accordingly and keep an eye on the expiration of your trial. We do not extend trials to coincide with porting.
Cancelling your Trial
We do not ask for a credit card in order to start a trial, so you will never be charged if you decide not to continue. So you do not need to Cancel your trial. If you choose to do so anyway, please go here. If you just want to stop getting emails, click the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the email.
Well that is most of what we recommend for most customer to try the basics out. Check out the other articles in this section for more details, and feel free to reach out with any questions or help. Our support team can be reached by clicking the Contact Support button at the top of this page.
