The porting process can range from very easy and quick for customers with few numbers on one account, to challenging for customers with lots of numbers on multiple accounts or carriers. RingRx manages most of the process for you. But you should understand that the process is regulated by the FCC to prevent fraud and seemingly minor details matter a great deal. While ports vary from carrier to carrier and customer to customer, the process generally can be explained below:
Start your Free Trial or Account
Before any porting can be started, you must have a valid functional Account. This can be a Free Trial Account, which you can initiate right on our website, or an Account setup for you by a RingRx sales representative.
Fill out a Port Form
All ports must be initiated with the completion of a Port Form. This gives us the authority to initiate a port on your behalf and gives us the information we need to process it. The form can be found here. Instructions on filling out the port from can be found here
Some other basics and helpful tips
- Porting is a process that is regulated by the FCC and is slow and has lots of obstacles by design. It is to prevent numbers from being stolen.
- The service provider you are moving away from (aka “losing carrier”) will reject a port if any information that we submit to them is not consistent with their records.
- The communications between RingRx and the losing carrier is not very clear.
