Texting during your Free Trial

During your trial, you are enrolled in a temporary ‘test-only’ texting campaign.  This article describes what this means and how you can make the most out of using our texting feature during the trial.

Texting during your RingRx Free Trial comes with some very special limitations that you need to be aware of in order to get the most out of your experience.  Please read this article for details, limitations, and steps you can take to improve your experience.

Overview

As you know, RingRx offers texting as part of the communications solutions that we provide to all of our healthcare customers.  Texting with RingRx is done by SMS (Short Message Service), which is the most common form of texting.  Texting can be done between RingRx Users as well as with people outside of RingRx, like your patients, customers, colleagues, and vendors, on their mobile phones.  While you can indeed text with people on their mobile phones, RingRx is not a cell phone service.  Therefore, the texting service we provide originates outside the cellular network.  In order for RingRx customers to be able to communicate with any cell phone users, you must get permission from a cell phone company sponsored organization (The Campaign Registry or "TCR") to implement industry rules governing 10-digit long code ("10 DLC") use.    This process can take some time (usually just a few days) and costs money (the fees are modest and are described here).  We know you don't want to do that during your trial, so we have enrolled you in a special program that lets you text for during your trial without the hassle of applying for TCR or incuring any delays or fees.

How texting works during your Free Trial

There are a few limitations on how texting will work during your Free Trial.

  • You may only text with up to 10 phone numbers.  This allows you to try out the service, see how it works between you and a handful of people.
  • You may only send out texts from one number on your RingRx Account.
  • All outbound texts must have a included line that states "<RingRx> Free Trial Message" before each message you send.

How to experience texting during your Trial

We suggest conducting some text conversations with your own mobile phone, perhaps some friends, co-workers, or close colleagues.   We  know this is not ideal - it would be great if you could just text like normal to whoever you want with no restrictions.  Unfortunately, these limitations are a result of 10DLC regulatory framework, and all of our customers (all customers of all non-cellular phone companies) must abide by them,

What to do if you want to continue texting

The Free Trial texting capability will end when your Trial ends.   If you choose to continue with RingRx and you want to text, you must create your own TCR Campaign.  You can start that right in your RingRx portal.  You can learn more about the process here.

Anytime during your trial or after, you may get started with your own campaign.  If you choose to start the process while you are still in your Free Trial, you must add a credit card to your account, which you can do here.
