Setting Up Your Holiday or Temporary Menu
Learn how to set up a temporary greeting and closure schedule for your Auto Attendant. This can be used for Holidays or custom office closures and call flows
Preparing your phone system for upcoming holidays and office closures ensures your patients and clients stay informed even when your team is away. RingRx allows you to create temporary "closed" greetings and custom routing schedules ahead of time. The best part? Once the specified holiday dates pass, your system will automatically revert back to your standard business hours without any manual intervention.
Follow these five simple steps to configure your holiday Auto Attendant menu.
Step 1: Locate Your Auto Attendant
- Log into the portal at https://portal.ringrx.com .
- In the top right-hand corner, select Settings.
- Select Auto Attendant.
- Click View next to the specific Attendant you want to modify.
Step 2: Create the Holiday Menu & Greeting
- Click the Create Menu button and assign it a clear name (e.g., "Holiday Closed").
- Click the Greeting tab.
- Choose to Upload a file from your computer, select an existing file from your Media Library, or record a new greeting.
Step 3: Create the Holiday Schedule
- Switch to the Schedule tab, then select New Schedule.
- Note: You can safely ignore the "Ext to Ring Prior" and "# of seconds to ring" fields for this setup.
- Enter a name for the schedule, and select Date & Time Range.
- Enter your exact holiday closure start and end details, then click Save.
Step 4: Prioritize the New Schedule
- Click Back to [Name] Auto Attendant in the top left of your screen.
- Click Manage Master Schedule.
- Drag your new holiday schedule to the very top of the list so it takes the highest priority. This ensures it overrides your regular schedule for those specific dates.
Step 5: Create Menu Options

- Click back to the Menu Functions tab.
- If you do not see the option to add a new menu function, click the Edit button in the top right.

You're all set! Your phone system will now automatically follow your new routing during the specified dates and switch back to normal when you return.
